Russia attempts to counter Western sanctions by imposing export bans on key commodities.

Russia announced an export embargo on more than 200 types of foreign-made commodities on Thursday, in response to the waves of sweeping sanctions put on their economy following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The ban will last until at least the end of 2022, and it will apply to previously imported products and equipment into Russia.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in an order. “The list includes technology, communication, and medical equipment, as well as automobiles, agricultural gear, and electrical equipment — in total, more than 200 categories of items,” “This step is required to maintain market stability in Russia.”

“Telecom, medical, auto, agricultural, electrical, and tech equipment, as well as some forestry products,” are some of the banned items. according to Reuters.

Russia’s economy ministry said. “These steps are a reasonable response to the sanctions imposed against Russia and are aimed at ensuring the ongoing operation of vital economic sectors.”

While this announcement would affect imports from all nations, members of the Eurasian Economic Union (a Russia-led group of former Soviet states), as well as Georgia’s separatist territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, can make exceptions.

The export of “certain types of lumber” is also prohibited for 48 countries, including the United States and European Union nations, who are accused of “unfriendly conduct” toward Russia. Following weeks of increasingly tough economic sanctions and corresponding actions by Western governments and companies, Russia has retaliated.

Days later, two multinational petroleum conglomerates located in the United Kingdom declared that, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, they would discontinue their partnerships with Russian oil corporations.

In a statement, BP chairman Helge Lund stated, “Russia’s invasion on Ukraine is an act of aggression that is having catastrophic implications across the region.”

Following BP’s declaration, Shell, a British oil corporation, said that it will end its joint ventures with Russian energy company Gazprom.

  1. America can be selfsuefficient . cut off ALL exports and imports with Russia should be done. All people who want to leave should be allowed to without harm to them .

  2. I probably am not the only one to see the idiocy in Biden’s GREEN PLAN, when he is willing to BUY OIL from other countries, while expounding on the need to reduce our own oil needs!! How stupid can this man be or is it true that he is a traitor?!? You can’t have it both ways: either we don’t use oil (NOW THAT’S CRAZY!), or we build our own pipelines, correct? Why in the world would any sane president want to buy oil from enemies, when we can supply our own? Why would any sane president destroy our ability to be independent of buying oil from any other nation when we can supply our own?!?
There is only one reason; this president owes someone big time or he is totally incompetent!!
