As the globe calls out for more energy from more sources far away from Russia, the Middle East, and the OPEC oil cartel, U.S. President Joe Biden has recommended prohibiting all new drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
According to Breitbart News, Biden also aims to end oil and gas exploration and production on federal land, recognizing the importance of fossil fuels in the US energy field.

As per a plan made public on Friday, the White House only recommended 10 possible lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico, one possible lease sale option in the northern part of Cook Inlet in Alaska, and no lease sales for the Atlantic or Pacific planning areas between 2023 and 2028.
This is not a final decision over which sales will be permitted, but the Department of Interior’s Board of Ocean Energy Management highlighted that any area or sale not included by the plan will be off-limits for the five-year period, according to UPI.
Democrats had pushed Biden to do more to halt offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico during a parliamentary session earlier this year.
His administration had approved new oil drilling leases on 1.7 million acres of federal land in the Gulf of Mexico in November, breaching a pledge he made during the campaign to restrict new oil and natural gas leases on public lands and waterways.
Republican-leaning states are also exerting pressure on the Biden administration. 14 of these states have filed lawsuits against him for stopping the leasing of new oil and gas leases on federal lands, claiming that doing so increased energy prices.
A few months ago, under pressure to cut energy costs, the White House resumed oil and gas leases that had been placed on hold in February due to a dispute with Republican states over the adoption of a carbon cost metric that assigned a high cost to emissions harm.
